A DEDICATED MESSAGE

AND BOLD STATEMENTS FROM MY PEERS

A SELECTION OF DESIGN HINTS,
STATEMENTS, GENERAL RULES AND
THE DESIGN PROCESS

A CONVERGENCE COMPANY ENGINEERING
MANUAL IS USED AT ALL TIMES

(below is the wonderful world of TCC design pictures!)

Use Consistent Software

Don’t Use packages that are not ‘industry standards’

This Helps with Drawing Interchange over the Internet.

We use and expect proficiency in the following:

VISIO General Block Drawings and Simple Schematics

Autocad All Architectural, Mechanical,
Electrical HVAC and
all System Detail including
cable numbers

The Microsoft Suite for Documents, Spreadsheets, Project Timescales and Presentations.

The Adobe Suite of Products for all PDF Document Interchange

Graphics from Adobe or Corel suites of programs

Give examples and Simple Overview block drawings

This helps the basic understanding of all involved helping the three main processes:

CONTEXT Put the requirements in context
PERSPECTIVE Now the requirements have
relative importance
PRIORITY The perspective importance
level sets the priority to what
needs the most attention and
when

DO IT With the above process complete all is needed is the people to perform the tasks

Don’t Use 3D Unless you Really have to

This is expensive time consuming stuff. Unless a point really has to be made its not necessary.

There are several specialised software products which are quick to use for desk design which produce an ‘instant’ 3D impression.

Don’t Overdesign

Its not a competition
